An old-school Factions server for Minecraft Java and Bedrock. Build a base, claim land, raid with TNT and fight for KOTH. Nothing that helps you win is for sale.
Old-school Factions, rebuilt from scratch
Retro's Factions is a Minecraft factions server the way factions used to be. You start with nothing, team up with friends, claim land and build a base. Then you raid other factions with TNT and cannons, defend your own, and fight over KOTH every two hours.
I first ran this server in 2020. I rebuilt it from scratch this year because every OG factions server I found was pay-to-win. Here, ranks are earned with in-game money, and the store only sells cosmetics and a few small conveniences.
Java and Bedrock players share the same world, so you can play with friends on PC, phone or tablet.

Real raiding
TNT, cannons and creepers break claimed land. If a faction has more land than power, you can over-claim it and take its base.
KOTH every 2 hours
Hold the hill for 3 minutes to win $10,000, a Retro Crate key and the KOTH King title. It starts when at least 2 players are online.
Sell what you farm and mine
Every crop, ore and block sells in /shop. Cobblestone sells for $5 and wheat for $8. Trade with other players in the auction house with /ah.
11 ranks to earn
Buy ranks with in-game money using /rankup. Each one adds homes, a kit and commands like /feed, /near and /anvil.
Not pay-to-win
The store sells cosmetics like trails, pets, hats and chat tags, plus a few conveniences. Ranks, kits, crate keys and boosters are never sold.
BedWars and mini games
BedWars from 1v1 up to 2v2v2v2, The Pit, Spleef, TNT Run and a sky parkour with a daily reward of $10,000 and a crate key.
Java and Bedrock
Join from Java 1.21.5 to 26.3, or from Bedrock on a phone, tablet or Windows PC. Everyone plays in the same world.
A start for new players
New players get a starter kit and the farmer kit. Once you're in a faction, /kit faction adds obsidian, walls, chests and TNT for your first base.
Free season pass
/pass has 30 tiers. Play, vote, win KOTH and finish the parkour to earn money, keys and titles on the free track.
Fair fights
Grim anti-cheat and staff keep hacked clients out. Players drop their heads when killed in PvP, and you can eat them like a golden apple.
Silk Touch spawners
Mine a spawner with a Silk Touch pickaxe and it keeps its mob type, so you can move it to your base.
Vote rewards
Every vote gives $5,000, a vote crate key and season pass XP. 50 votes from the server start a vote party with double sell prices.

Spawn is a castle above the clouds. From there, portals take you to the wilderness, the shop and the Mini Games Hub.

Claim land in the wilderness, build a base and raid. The WarZone around spawn has PvP on all the time.

BedWars
Six modes on the Sky Kingdoms map, from 1v1 to 2v2v2v2. You earn money for kills, beds and wins.
TNT Run and Spleef
Quick rounds where the floor disappears under you. Your items are saved while you play.
Spawn castle
A walled castle with a tavern, a bank, a market, a sky parkour, crates and leaderboards.

Walk through the portals under the sign at spawn for the shop, the wilderness or the mini games.

Vote and get $5,000
Every vote gives you $5,000, a vote crate key and 20 season pass XP. If you're offline, you get it the next time you join.
Every 50 votes from the whole server start a vote party with double sell prices for 30 minutes. Voting also helps new players find the server, which I really appreciate.

What is the Retro's Factions server IP?
Java Edition: play.retrosfactions.net. Bedrock Edition: play.retrosfactions.net with port 443. The how to join page has step-by-step instructions.
Is Retro's Factions pay-to-win?
No. Ranks are bought with in-game money using /rankup. The store only sells cosmetics and a few conveniences. Ranks, kits, crate keys and boosters are never sold.
Can Bedrock players join?
Yes. Java and Bedrock players play in the same world. On Bedrock, open the Servers tab, add a server with the address play.retrosfactions.net and port 443. Phones, tablets and Windows all work.
What Minecraft versions can join?
Java Edition 1.21.5 up to 26.3, and the current version of Bedrock Edition.
Is raiding allowed?
Yes. TNT, cannons and creepers break claimed land, and a faction with more land than power can be over-claimed. Hacked clients, duping and combat logging are not allowed. See the rules.
When does KOTH start?
Every 2 hours when at least 2 players are online. There is a warning 5 minutes and 1 minute before it starts. Holding the hill for 3 minutes wins $10,000, a Retro Crate key and the KOTH King title.
Is it free to play?
Yes. You need your own copy of Minecraft. Java players need an official Microsoft account, so cracked clients can't join.
What is an OG factions server?
OG or old-school factions is the classic style of factions: you claim land with power, raid other factions with TNT and cannons, and earn everything in game. There are no pay-to-win kits or ranks.
